Anti Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections, often known as Botox, is a very safe non-surgical cosmetic treatment aimed at reducing the appearance of wrinkles and facial lines. Botox is a neurotoxin known as Botulinum Toxin, derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. The drugs we use are all tried, tested and proven and are licensed for use in the UK.

Anti-wrinkle injections are injected into dynamic muscles such as frown lines. This procedure results in the temporary interruption of the nerve signal and a reduction in muscle activity. By relaxing specific muscles, it prevents them from contracting, and therefore softens or eliminates existing lines and prevents new lines from forming. The aim of wrinkle relaxers are to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, not to completely freeze a muscle.

It is the treatment of choice for forehead lines, crow’s feet and lines between the eyebrows (11s). It can also be used to treat lines in the lower face, such as smokers’ lines, and to lift e.g. the eyebrows or the corners of the mouth. In addition to being used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, it can also treat headaches and reduce a gummy smile, teeth grinding and excess sweating.

The following areas are able to be improved with the use of Anti-wrinkle injections.

  • Forehead
  • Frown Lines (11 lines)
  • Crows Feet
  • Bunny Lines
  • Lip Flip
  • Gummy Smile
  • Down turned mouth
  • Chin Dimples
  • Jaw
  • Masseter/Teeth Grinding
  • Hyperhidrosis
  • Platysmal bands/Nefertiti Neck lift

A Consultation is required prior to any Anti-wrinkle/Muscle Relaxing Treatment

Treatment Overview

How long will my results last? Antiwrinkle treatments typically last between 3 and 6 months. With repeated treatments wrinkles and lines will appear less severe as the muscles weaken. Are there any side effects? Side effects are very rare but we will go through this with you at your consultation. Can I have treatment on the same day? No. Anti-wrinkle injections are prescription only and we always do a consultation on your first appointment. If deemed suitable for treatment an appointment will be made for you to return for treatment. Is it painful? Anti-wrinkle injections are relatively low on the pain scale. We use a very fine needle for your comfort, which provides a painless procedure. When will I see results? Treatment results will appear commonly in the first 7 days, but ultimate results are at 14 days. This is when we schedule a review in clinic to review your results. Longevity of results are dependent on each individual, as factors such as metabolism, diet, exercise and sun exposure can have effect how long the results last for.
